A few weekends ago Zack was away with a friend golfing in Florida. (Good wife points, eh?) Not really knowing what to do with the kids, I discovered that the fraternities and sororities were hosting a kid carnival (aka Festival) after a charity 5K. Excellent! Off we went to take full advantage of what this Happy Valley has to offer.
Each greek organization had a table with a game with prizes (imagine the cheapest plastic chokable-size toy), a bounce house and plenty of free carnival food. How else should you spend 2 hours with the kids on a Saturday morning? Watching cartoons in your pjs? Okay, maybe.
What other cool mom gives cotton candy at 10am?
Face painting! The college students didn't know what they were getting themselves into when they handed over the "catalog" to CJ to pick a design. After her butterfly and Alexander's tiger, all other kids got to pick from a heart, rainbow, or star on their cheeks. HA!
CJ face-painted, hand tattooed and ready to devour her candy.
Alexander the Tiger. GRRRRRRR.
The student and the kids. He was really good with their wiggles.
Beanbag toss. CJ rocked it.
Surprisingly, Alexander took forever to make it through the holes.
Lunchtime = popcorn.
Living in the middle of nowhere Pennsylvania definitely has a few drawbacks, but I will say that the events like this throughout the year make me really appreciate how truly lucky we are to live in Happy Valley.

Great pics Jean! The catalog of face painting choices cracks me up. How did your children get so big? :)
