CJ looked forward to the game all week so she could wear a PSU cheerleader outfit and Alexander was ready to play in his football jersey. As a college student at Penn State, I always thought those parents who dressed their kids in that stuff were a bit wacky. And now I have joined those throngs of wacky parents. Cool. :-)
This year the Blue Band trumpet section has come up to the Suites to perform the "Hail to the Lion" song. The kids and I were outside watching the game and came running in just as they finished. Not to miss a photo opt, I ran and caught up to them in the hallway to ask for a group shot. Immediately, they gave the kids a hat and instruments. It was AWESOME!
As the fourth quarter approached (can you believe we lasted that long?), Zack asked the kids what last sugary treat would they like, "Cookie, cake, or ice cream." CJ opted for the M&M cookie while Alexander picked cake. Good choice... especially since the cake was a four-layer mountain of confections. After consuming it all with a smile on his face, he turned to Zack and said, "Daddy, can I have more?"
To which Zack responded, "More what?"
"Sugar, Daddy."
That about sums up why the kids love going to the game so much AND why they only go once a year.
